Testimony by: Nolan D
September 17, 2018

I started going to Bonnyville Community Church in 2011. When I first started attending I thought church was boring but I went anyways because I didn’t want to upset my Mom. I grew up going to church and my childhood was good but things changed a lot when my parents separated when I was 12. My Mom took my brothers and I to the community church after the separation and I didn’t know it at the time but her taking me to Bonnyville Community Church was one of the best decisions she ever made. I attended my first conference at the church when I was 14. Before that time I never really experienced God before but during that conference weekend I experienced God in a big way. Prior to that my body had been out of line, my one leg was shorter than my other leg and my spine was not straight. One of the preachers prayed for me and I got totally healed instantly. I then realized at that moment that God was actually real. That following school year I started attending the youth group at the church. At first I just went to play the games but later on I went because I wanted to get closer to God. The next year I continued going to youth. Although I had an encounter with God at age 14 I was still kind of living for myself at age 16. I then went to YC that year and I had an encounter with God once again, I then realized that I want to live for God fully. The following year was my grade 12 year of high school and I started speaking during testimony time at church and I realized I wanted to be a preacher when I grow up. That year I applied for Bible college and I got accepted. The summer before Bible college I was dealing with a sickness and it almost kept me away from college but I was able to attend and I thank the Lord for that. My year of college was good but I felt like I wanted to move onto something else after that. So this past year I worked full-time at Tim Hortons and thankfully I was able to get Sunday mornings off and attend church full-time. Now I’m going to be travelling to the United States this month for a 5 month program called YWAM in Louisville, Kentucky. I’m really excited for what God has planned for me. If I was to describe the way Bonnyville Community Church has had a positive impact on me the last few years it would be hard for me to put it into words but I can say that if it wasn’t for the church I would’t be where I am today. I’m thankful for Pastor Ken and everyone else who believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. I still struggle in a lot ways but I believe that God has a plan for me and he will lead me down the right path. I went through a lot of difficult stuff but God got me through it. I just wanted to say thank you to God, Bonnyville Community Church and my Mom for making this all possible.
